His assistant on the National Team Kenneth Waiswa will lead the Sipi Trekkers while Pakistani-born Riazat Ali Shah paddles the Itanda Kayakers.
The tournament has attracted international players from across the region with cricketers coming from as far as Botswana.
These include Botswana Captain Karabo Mothlanka who will be featuring for Bujjagali Rafters, and Sami Sohail from Malawi, who was player of the tournament at the Africa T20WC Qualification Sub-Regionals last year in Rwanda.
He says he is set to learn more about local cricket, this being his first time in Uganda.
The tournament started last week on Thursday with the Women’s edition, which ended on Sunday with the crowning of the Sipi Trekkers after beating favorites -the Itanda Kayakers- by 21 runs in a low-scoring final.
Talking for BATBALL UGANDA -who are the tournament main sponsors-, Martin Ondeko said the competition will develop local cricket and also attract bigger names to participate and make it an international tournament.
The other tournament partners are Roke Telkom, and Plascon.
The Sipi Trekkers will set pace for the tournament against the Itanda Kayakers at 9:30 am before returning for an afternoon session against the Bujagaali Rafters at 2pm, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.
